Plagiarism Check
Plagiarism and Similarity Check Policy
Rumoh Journal upholds the highest standards of publication ethics and academic integrity. To ensure originality and prevent plagiarism, every manuscript submitted to the journal undergoes a similarity check prior to the peer-review process.
Tools Used
Manuscripts are screened using iThenticate/Turnitin as the primary tool. Other plagiarism detection applications may be used if necessary. The similarity check helps editors identify overlap and possible cases of plagiarism, but final evaluation is based on academic judgment.
Acceptable Similarity Threshold
- The maximum similarity index allowed is 20% (excluding bibliography, quotations, and common phrases).
- Similarity from a single source should not exceed 5%.
- Overlap in methods sections or standard terminology may be considered acceptable if properly cited.
Handling of Plagiarism
- Similarity ≤ 20%: The manuscript proceeds to peer review.
- Similarity 21–30%: Authors will be asked to revise and resubmit after reducing overlap.
- Similarity > 30% or evidence of verbatim plagiarism: The submission will be rejected.
- Cases of suspected plagiarism will be handled in accordance with COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines.
Self-Plagiarism and Text Recycling
Authors must avoid reusing substantial parts of their previously published works without citation. Limited overlap in methodology may be permitted if properly acknowledged.
Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools
- AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Copilot, etc.) may be used to assist in language polishing or grammar checking.
- AI tools must not be credited as authors and must not be used to generate original research content, data analysis, or interpretation.
- Any use of AI tools should be transparently acknowledged in the manuscript.
Withdrawal Policy
Authors may withdraw their manuscripts by submitting a formal written request with clear reasons. Withdrawal is allowed without penalty before the review process begins.
- If withdrawal is requested after peer review but before acceptance, authors are expected to provide strong justification.
- Withdrawal after acceptance is strongly discouraged. Authors who repeatedly withdraw manuscripts without valid reason may be temporarily restricted from future submissions.
